Spurs midfielders Dembele and Eriksen are likely to miss tonight’s game with Borussia Dortmund at White Hart Lane. Tottenham, who are currently second in the Premier League and are 3-0 behind on aggregate to the Germans, have an enormous challenge on their hands if they are to turn the tide in this European contest. However it is clear from Pochettino’s team selection in Dortmund that his focus is now on progressing through the league, with close challengers Arsenal the most recent team to slip out of contention. Last Thursday an altered Spurs side were easily outshone by the German giants, who took a commanding lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Marco Reus’s brace. It is likely that they will be on top form again tonight. It was the heaviest defeat of the season for Pochettino’s side and leaves them needing to win by a four-goal margin to reach the quarter-finals inside 90 minutes.
Whilst Spurs now have the home advantage, it is unlikely to make the difference against such a strong German side.
